On Saturday 16th of November at 2:00 – 3:30pm Dave and Jules Hardy will present
‘Daffodils in Ireland‘,
a talk on the wonderfully rich tapestry of the history of daffodil breeding across the island of Ireland.
National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin 9. D09 VY63
‘A hobby that got out of hand’ is often the phrase Dave and Jules use to describe how Esker Farm Daffodils came into existence.
Based in Co Tyrone, between Omagh and Enniskillen, their nursery initially focused purely on daffodils but over the last few years, they have ventured into selling a broader range of other specialised, more unusual bulbs, many of these starting out as the daffodils did – as a hobby.
But now their personal collections of snowdrops, crocuses, colchicums, fritillaria and other unusual bulbs are slowly being added to the catalogue and website, as numbers permit. Over the coming years they will continue to develop and increase their range of bulbs, even introducing new varieties bred in Dromore.
