In the Northern region we were delighted to welcome Honorary Member, Brian Duncan, 60 other members and about 20 visitors, to our lecture on Thursday, 24th October, at Antrim Old Courthouse when we all thoroughly enjoyed Shirley Lanigan’s account of her “Adventures on the Road” over the past 20 years as she criss-crossed the island to visit gardens and interview their owners.
It was an eclectic selection, not quite Malin to Mizen but very nearly. A number of the owners whose gardens featured in Shirley’s book The Open Gardens of Ireland were in the audience and part of the fun was matching them with the pictures. We all left with the conviction that, come next year, we needed to get out more.
